CONSOLIDATED FREIGHTWAYS CORPORATION OF DELAWARE V. WILLIAMS
139 Ga. App. 302 (1976)
NATURE OF THE CASE: Consolidated (D) appealed from a judgment, which ruled in favor
Williams (P) in an action to recover a reward.
FACTS: D posted an offer of reward at work: 'Up to $ 5,000 reward is being offered by
Consolidated Freightways for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any
individual found stealing or concealing freight or other property from Consolidated
Freightways. We feel that all employees should be trusted. However, a dishonorable act on
the part of one individual can cast suspicion on the rest of us. It is our firm intention to
quickly apprehend and prosecute any dishonorable person who may appear among us. All
information will be held in strict confidence. Call Collect -- CF Security Office --
503-227-2561 Ext. 252 or contact your supervisor or terminal manager.' P was a manager at D
and after working hours figured out who the culprit was and turned him in and demanded the
reward. D refused to pay. P sued D and won. D appealed.
