WRIGHT V. NEWMAN, 467 S.E.2d 533 (1996) CASE BRIEF

WRIGHT V. NEWMAN
467 S.E.2d 533 (1996)
NATURE OF THE CASE: Wright (D), ex-husband, sought review of an order, which ordered him to pay child support for Newman's (P) son, who was not his natural child.
FACTS: Kim Newman (P) sought child support form Bruce Wright (D). D's answer admitted paternity to P's daughter but DNA testing subsequently showed that he is not the father of her son. The trial court ordered D to pay child support for both children. The trial court based this on D's actions of having himself listed on the birth certificate, giving the child his surname, and establishing a parent child relationship. D appealed.
