NATURE OF THE CASE: This was an appeal from a conviction of child abuse.
FACTS: Pope (D) was a member of a church where she met Norris and her minor son. D took Norris and her son into her house for the weekend because they had no place to go. D helped care for them both until Norris lapsed into one of her religious frenzies and beat and abused the child. The child eventually died. D was charged with child abuse and misprison of felony and was found guilty. D appealed.
