NATURE OF THE CASE: This case concerns wrongful disclosure of private information.
FACTS: MGN (D) published articles of Campbell (P) attending rehab meetings (Narcotics Anonymous). P commenced proceedings against D. In response D published an additional number of disparaging articles about P. P claimed damages for breach of confidence and compensation under the Data Protection Act 1998. The judge upheld P's claim. He made her a modest award of 2,500 plus 1,000 aggravated damages in respect of both claims. D appealed. The Court of Appeal allowed the appeal and discharged the judge's order: P has now appealed.
