NATURE OF THE CASE: This was an action to enforce a judgment of a French court.
FACTS: P sued D in United States court upon a judgment given in a French court. D denied the debt and contended that the merits of the case should be examined as would French courts would examine the merits of an American judgment against a French national in France. The circuit court entered judgment for P without an examination of the merits. P appealed.
