NATURE OF THE CASE: This was a dispute over payment for extra work performed.
FACTS: Harris (P) was a seaman on board a ship and Watson (D) was the master. D promised P a payment of five guineas over and above his common wages if he would perform some extra work in navigating the ship when the ship was in extremis. P sued D for the payment.
